ERP for the metalworking industry
Sheet metal, profiles and machining require BOMs with dimensions, realistic material requirements including loss and insight into what the machines are doing. Digital WorkMate calculates with dimensions and loss rules and reads CNC machines directly.
Where it often pinches
- Material requirements in lengths, areas and stock sizes
- Saw, cutting and start loss
- Batch and certificate traceability
- Machine state and running times without manual registration
From drawing to machine
- 1BOM with dimensions
- 2Material loss
- 3Purchasing in stock sizes
- 4Lots
- 5CNC machine
- 6Actual costing
Dimensions and material loss
BOM lines with length, width and height, and loss rules by percentage, fixed quantity, per piece or per cut, rounded to a stock size. DWM uses that quantity for costing, reservation and purchasing.
CNC machines connected directly
The DWM Monitor reads Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens Sinumerik controllers and OPC UA machines: state, program, tool, running times and alarms.
Traceability per lot
Record supplier batches on receipt and follow them through production to the customer, with an immutable lot ledger.
What Digital WorkMate offers for this today
For each part you can see whether it is fully or partially available.
- Multi-level bills of materialsAvailable
Multi-level BOMs with phantom assemblies, dimensions (length, width, height) and material-loss rules for saw and cutting loss.
- Lots and traceabilityAvailable
Immutable lot ledger, tracing from supplier batch to customer and back, repacking with lot genealogy and production postings per lot.
- CNC connections (Fanuc, Heidenhain, Siemens Sinumerik)Available
Machine state, active program, tool, feed and speed, running times, cycle counts and alarms.
- NC programs to the machineAvailable
Send NC programs from DWM to the controller and record program runs.
- OPC UA read and writeAvailable
Subscribe, poll, read and write OPC UA nodes; commands to the machine with status feedback.
- Finite-capacity schedulingAvailable
Automatic priority-driven scheduler with ASAP and JIT scheduling, dependencies, critical path and a drag-to-reschedule Gantt chart. Per department you set a priority per production order, the Gantt shows department colours and filters on workplace, department and user, and a planner work list shows the operations of a user's workplaces. An operation without planned time does not block scheduling.
- Hours, progress and actual costingAvailable
Actual times, consumption and scrap per operation; planned versus actual and the cost per good piece.
- Quality (NCR, audits, confirmations)Partial
In-process quality control with measurement steps, tolerances, photos and checklists recorded by the operator, with a configurable frequency (for example every first piece or every N pieces). A rejected step can block the operation, block a lot or start a non-conformance report (NCR). Non-conformance reports and audit schedules as task board templates; no SPC charts and no incoming inspection at goods receipt.
- Energy-price-driven schedulingAvailable
Start operations automatically once the electricity price drops below a per-machine threshold (NL, BE, DE/LU, FR).
Metalworking: frequently asked questions
Can I include saw and cutting loss in material requirements?
Yes. BOM lines have length, width and height, and loss rules by percentage, fixed quantity, per piece or per cut, rounded to a stock size. DWM uses that quantity for costing, reservation and purchasing.
Which CNC controllers can Digital WorkMate read?
The DWM Monitor reads Fanuc, Heidenhain and Siemens Sinumerik controllers and OPC UA machines: state, program, tool, running times and alarms.
Is batch traceability possible?
Yes. Record supplier batches on receipt and follow them through production to the customer, with an immutable lot ledger.
