Your BOM says 1.2 metres
Your bill of materials says 1.2 metres. Your warehouse says something else. Saw loss, a rejected piece, an offcut you can do nothing with. Consumption is almost always higher than what is on paper. And what is not in the BOM is not in your cost price.
A calculation example. 20,000 pieces a year, 1.2 metres per piece, €6 per metre. If the real loss is 8%, that is 1,920 metres: over €11,500 a year of material you never charged for.
In Digital WorkMate you record material loss on a BOM line or operation: as a percentage, a fixed quantity, per piece or per cut, with rounding. A calculation preview shows the effect, and the loss flows into production quantities, cost price and purchasing needs.
Indicative calculation example. Not a customer result.
